Many artists, photographer's, writers and poets receive inspiration from nature. A flower just about to bloom, the shift in seasons, the detail of a leaf, the view from a mountain top. Luckily for PRHS Students you are surrounded by the natural world! Here are some of the amazing places you can explore when you need a little outdoor inspiration!

The Quincy Bog: The Quincy Bog in Rumney NH only a few miles from PRHS! There are 50 acres to explore, including pond (what remains of a post-glacial pond), wetlands, upland forests and meadows. There is also a wonderful Nature Center that offers nature walks and workshops (for FREE)!
Mt. Teneriffe Preserve: The Mt. Teneriffe Preserve in Milton NH offers 170 acres of woodland and views. You can also find rare orchids and wildlife!
Ossipee Pine Barrens: The Ossipee Pine Barrens, stretching thorough Freedom, Madison, Tamworth and Ossipee, New Hampshire, is one of New Hampshire's most endangered ecosystems. A wide variety of unique and rare plants and animals live within the Pine Barrens, including nearly two dozen threatened and endangered moths and butterflies , some found nowhere else in New Hampshire! Wingate Shores Preserve at Garland Pond: Garland Pond in Moultonborough New Hampshire is one of the last remaining ponds in central New Hampshire with an undeveloped shore front! Not only does this preserve contain vernal pools which create a home for wood frogs and salamander but you can also find rare water marigolds (photographers dream)!
Manchester Ceder Swamp Preserve: A nature preserve in Manchester?! WOW! The globally rare Atlantic white cedar - giant rhododendron swamp occurs at fewer than ten locations in New England, and the only one north of Massachusetts is in Manchester, some of these trees are over 450 years old.
The White Mountains: There are 1,200 miles of trails in the White Mountain National Forest including Artist's Bluff, Lincoln Woods Trail, and the Welch and Dickey Loop Trail! If you LOVE to hike you can also consider becoming a member of New Hampshire's 4,000 Footers Club! To accomplish membership you will need to climb all 48 peaks in New Hampshire that are 4,000 feet or higher! Did you know that 160.9 miles of the Appalachian Trail is in New Hampshire? How lucky are we to have this amazing inspiration only a short drive away?!
