For nearly three years, origami enthusiast Cristian Marianciuc, has produced a flock of 1,000 paper birds decorated with all manner of leaves, beads, thread, flowers, feathers, etc., etc., etc.. You can explore all of his cranes on Instagram (he even has some for sale on Etsy)!
LA-based artist Scott Slagerman, in a collaboration with Jim Fishman, created this elegant Wood & Glass series. Each glass vase is formed by blowing it directly into a shape cut from wood while it lays flat on a table, ensuring the disparate objects fit perfectly like puzzle pieces.
You can see more from the Glass & Wood series on Slagerman’s website. Asako Mitamura grew up wanting to become a master nebuta maker, just like her father before her. She spent years perfecting the art of building nebuta, giant paper floats built to take on the shape of warrior gods. This year, Mitamura made history as the first woman to win first place at Japan’s 300-year-old Aomori Nebuta Festival. French paper artist, Maud Vantours, brings paper to life through a wide variety of projects that span from 3D paper sculpture displays to editorial work. Check out her Oscillations series!
