Waiting for the Sky to Burn
by Jamie Olds (1993) Tanned, dirty children Sitting on hot steps Waiting for the sky to burn. Mourning, depressed teens Passing idle time making delightful ogres of themselves Waiting for the sky to burn. Moaning, complaining adults Throwing pots and pans to show their day-to-day anger Waiting for the sky to burn. He and I, joyful and expectant, Waiting for the sun to rise, And our beautify to be seen, For we know that the sky will not burn. The Night
By David Long (1985) Imaginations set free running wild with no restrictions. Peace and darkness cut off the senses. The mind functions without input from an exterior world. Then morning comes the eyes focus the ears tune in and the outside world controls you again. Dreamers
by Johna VanStelten Climb high in the trees Sway in the breeze Don't let your feet touch the ground. Keep your head in the clouds With a hope that shrouds The negative rules all around. Whatever they say Just don't you pay Attention to where you are bound. Imagination Is the cause of creation For which dreamers are highly renowned. The Mind
by Danny Currier (1983) The Mind, it's a funny little thing. It can anticipate the unseen, and be unaware of the obvious. It can solve the most difficult and be confused over the simple. The mind, it's a funny little thing.... Waterfall
by David Leuser (1998) Over the Cliff, it tumbles, coughing up little diamonds. Over the cliff, it rumbles, thunder in mid summer. Over the cliff, it explodes, in a splash of light and dark. Over the cliff, it falls, a river, a waterfall. Perfection
by Elizabeth Hopkins (1988) Though the hill is high, And the sides are slippery glass, Still we must struggle Try to climb up To reach The nonexistent Peak. I am Running...
By Claire McCahan (2007) I am running against the blaring wind that pulls hot tears from my watery eyes. The rush of air I gear against my ears, down my throat. I want to yell, to scream Wait! but my voice is blocked, stifled by a clear, plastic cover I cannot cut through. I push harder and hear the clock chimes ring louder and faster as I try to escape the blankness behind me. Mist Fell
by Susan McGill (1989) Mist fell-upon my face When I fell into the realm- of influences and spells- The mist collected on my- eyelashes. -Droplets-rolled gently down my-delicate cheeks -tears?- Falling- from the sky- Rippling- in the puddles- a stream is formed- bits of Earth-are moved- Unwilling by- Others.- Freedom
by Tamara Karr (1997) Freedom is a hope of a way to deepen each simple idea made up of the global effort for imperfect irresistible love The need exploding in the mind discovery sensitive imagery The dream a child knows as the appealing looking glass A passion creating a future so pleasant hope flies high Perfect Colorful images world wide new and valuable happiness Feel the spirit wake! |
