Noah Mauchly
Artist of the Month - September, 2013
Noah Mauchly, currently a junior, is very devoted to his art and spends a lot of his time doing it. He has been drawing since he first discovered cartoons, and cartoons were his first preferred type of drawing. His current favorite medium is pen and ink on paper. He considers himself a minimalist and a surrealist, with a general motif of personal nostalgia recurrent in his works. He is inspired by such eminent persons as Hayao Miyazaki, Pendleton Ward, Steven Wright, and Rebecca Sugar. He is also inspired by memories, dreams, awkward feelings, and Wes Anderson films. He likes all Miyazaki films, the Pixar movie Up, the Scott Pilgrim graphic novel series, graphic novels by Daniel Clowes, the video games Limbo, Portal 2, and Team Fortress 2. His favorite movie is Rushmore because of the feelings and messages it inspires. He wants to become a professional artist, most likely in the field of either character animation or graphic novels. He has looked into schools such as the Rhode Island School of Design, California Arts, and the School for Visual Arts in New York City. The message of his art is that it addresses thoughts and ideas that reflect the mind of the human being. Or maybe not.
*Noah also has a Website where you can get his artwork printed on sweatshirts, coffee mugs, messenger bags and more...amazing!
